Job summary

Johnson Electric is seeking an Injection Molding Process Technician for the 2nd shift to develop, optimize, and sustain molding processes for automotive components. You will monitor machine parameters, troubleshoot issues, and work with Engineering and Quality to meet strict specifications and customer requirements.

You will train operators, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards across all molding operations. Join our global, technology-driven team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in injection molding in automotive context.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding equipment, tooling, and plastics.
• Ability to read technical drawings and process documentation.
• Good communication and collaboration; Lean Manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop, establish, and optimize injection molding processes for automotive components.
• Monitor and adjust machine parameters to maintain product quality and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure compliance with specs and customer requirements.
• Maintain and control process documentation, parameter settings, and engineering changes.
• Train operators and technicians on molding processes and best practices.
• Lead continuous improvement activities to reduce scrap and improve cycle times.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements across molding operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:

What We’re Looking For:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in injection molding processes, preferably within the automotive industry
• Strong knowledge of injection molding equipment, tooling, and plastic materials
• Proven experience in process troubleshooting, optimization, and problem-solving
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, process documentation, and specifications
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and quality management systems

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience in automotive injection molding operations
• Experience leading continuous improvement projects
• Knowledge of scientific molding techniques
• Experience supporting new product launches and process validations
• Familiarity with IATF 16949 and automotive quality requirements
