Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Injection Molding Process Engineer with hands-on experience operating and optimizing ENGEL and Toyo injection molding machines, as well as programming and troubleshooting Sepro and Fanuc robotic systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of molding processes, machine setup, and automation integration, particularly within high-volume manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Development & Optimization:
Design, implement, and optimize injection molding processes for new and existing products.
Utilize scientific molding principles and process window studies to establish robust process parameters.
Conduct trials and validations to ensure process stability and product quality.
Machine Operation & Troubleshooting:
Operate and maintain ENGEL and Toyo injection molding machines, ensuring optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine setup, mold design, and processing parameters.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to address mechanical and electrical concerns.
Automation Integration & Robot Programming:
Program and optimize Sepro and Fanuc robotic systems for efficient part handling, assembly, and quality control.
Develop and implement end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) solutions to enhance automation capabilities.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to robotic systems and automation equipment.
Documentation & Compliance:
Develop and maintain process documentation, including setup sheets, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
Support PPAP submissions and maintain records for quality audits.
Training & Support:
Provide training to operators and technicians on machine operation, process optimization, and automation systems.
Offer technical support during production runs and assist in the development of new molding processes.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead initiatives to reduce cycle times, improve part quality, and enhance overall process efficiency.
Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications such as RJG Master Molder I/II or AIM are advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in injection molding, with a strong background in process development and optimization.
Proven experience operating and troubleshooting ENGEL and Toyo injection molding machines.
Demonstrated expertise in programming and troubleshooting Sepro and Fanuc robotic systems.
Familiarity with auxiliary equipment such as hot runners, valve gates, robots, and resin dryers.
Skills:
Proficiency in statistical software tools like Minitab or JMP.
Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Attributes:
Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices or automotive.
Knowledge of robotics and peripheral equipment programming.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency and quality of injection molding operations, particularly with ENGEL, Toyo, Sepro, and Fanuc equipment.
Pay is negotiable based on experience.
