Injection Molding Process Engineer

This role is responsible for the overall development and management of injection molding processes at Rieke Packaging. The position will utilize scientific molding principles to establish and validate new product molding processes and manufacturing cells. Additionally, it ensures that all existing processes are continuously monitored and audited for compliance and sustained performance.

This position requires leadership skills to work closely with customers, process techs, internal tooling, quality, and production teams.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Perform, document, and direct all process development activities using scientific molding tools.
2. Document all process-related validation protocol requirements.
3. Perform regular process audits to ensure manufacturing compliance.
4. Serve as a technical liaison to customers on all process-related activities.
5. Monitor daily IQMS real-time actual versus standard and audit processes not running to standard.
6. Operate all aspects of molding and auxiliary equipment.
7. Ensure full understanding of decoupled molding and adherence to its principles by process techs.
8. Support troubleshooting and debugging of new programs.
9. Adhere to ISO procedures.
10. Lead process tech team in developing tooling work orders for mold repairs and preventive maintenance.
11. Utilize continuous improvement, lean, and Six Sigma tools to reach OEE standards.
12. Coach, mentor, and train process technicians.

Qualifications

1. College degree in Plastics Engineering or a related field with at least 5 years of experience in injection molding tooling design and process.
2. Experience in an ISO environment is desirable.
3. Basic understanding of automation.
4. Driven, self-motivated, and a change agent with a positive attitude.
5. Organized with the ability to bring projects to successful completion.
6. Strong communication and presentation skills.
7. Strong problem-solving and lean manufacturing skills.
8. Process and results-driven.
9. Innovative, inspiring, and capable of working in a consultative manner across the organization.
