Akkodis is seeking a Plastic Injection Molding Engineering Manager for a direct hire full-time opportunity near South Bend, IN. Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of experience in engineering and plastic injection molding plus 2+ years of leadership experience. The Engineering Manager plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities within the organization and ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization’s established policies and objectives.

Salary Range: $110-120K plus additional bonuses of around $20K; salary negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors

Engineering Manager Job Responsibilities Include

• Directs and coordinates activities of the engineering staff to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Assigns staff to specific phases or aspects of a project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
• Responsible for daily activities of all engineers, including production engineers.
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Communicate and coordinate all overseas project requirements.
• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
• Coordinate new equipment purchases; write executive summary, capital request, negotiate pricing, delivery, purchase order and project timelines.
• Reviews status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.
• Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
• Lead, mentor and coach Daily Management System concepts; standard work, visual controls, daily accountability, root cause problem solving.
• Directs integration of technical activities and products. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawings releases.
• Establish engineering department goals and achieve predicted outcomes.
• Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
• Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory agencies.
• Develop and implement training for engineering personnel.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent in an engineering related field
• 5+ years within Engineering in a plastic injection molding environment
• 2+ years of Engineering Leadership
• OEM experience preferred
• Team-oriented and detail-oriented with ability to work on the floor and in the office
