Job summary

Aerotek seeks a Tooling Repair Technician in Detroit, MI to maintain and repair injection molds across 34 machines, focusing on preventative maintenance and production tool repair. Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of production tool repair experience in injection molding environments.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic maintenance and repair, including hydraulic ejection systems, hydraulic lines, and core signals in hydraulic cylinders.
• Practical experience with injection molding machinery, brands such as Toshiba and KM.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on injection molds to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Carry out production tool repair on molds ranging from 900 lbs to 2,500 tons.
• Inspect molds for wear, damage, and performance issues and complete repairs as needed.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems and hydraulic cylinders in molds.
• Troubleshoot and repair injection molding machines (Toshiba, KM) to support production quality.
• Maintain and repair hot runner systems and valve gates within molds.
• Electrical troubleshooting on mold equipment up to 240V.
• Test electrical connections with volt meters and OHM readings.
• Conduct mechanical and pneumatic troubleshooting on mold tooling.
• Perform grinding and precision finishing to restore tooling surfaces.
• Support tool and die maintenance including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly.
• Document maintenance activities and communicate status to teams.
• Collaborate with production to respond to tooling issues and drive improvements.
• Follow safety procedures for hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
