Job summary

Cooper Standard is seeking an Injection Molding Operator in Michigan (East Tawas) under a shift lead. The role involves mold changes, setting up and running injection-molding machines, and controlling materials and inventory.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, be able to obtain forklift certification, and possess at least 3 years in injection molding with strong organizational skills. Overtime may be required; in-plant training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the injection molding process including setup, teardown, troubleshooting, maintenance and workflow.
  • Perform mold changes and assume material handler responsibilities as needed.
  • Use crane hoist to perform mold changes and maintain molding equipment.
  • Adjust molds and process parameters to achieve quality parts with optimized cycle times.
  • Set up end-of-arm tooling for robotic part removal and trimming.
  • Apply troubleshooting to improve repeatable molding processes.

Job description

Under the direction of the shift lead/Supervisor, performs mold changes, sets up and ensures proper operation of injection-molding machines. Ability to properly handle material, molded production and related inventory control. Must have experience and knowledge of proper operation of manufacturing and material handling equipment.

Must flexible to work overtime on very short notice and may train on 1st shift and move to off shift.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Must be able to obtain a forklift certification. In plant training will be provided

A minimum of 3 years' experience in injection molding, setup and processing

Must have good organizational skills and good attendance is mandatory

Must have proactive and show initiative in taking on and completing injection molding project with the ability to execute job responsibilities with little supervision

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process including, but not limited to, set up and tear down, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and workflow.

Performs mold changes and all the function and responsibilities of a material handler when necessary.

Use a crane hoist to perform mold changes and scope of maintenance of molding machines.

Insert changes to molds and process molding parameters to achieve quality parts and optimized cycle times.

Set up end of arm tooling for robotic part removal and trimming

Use trouble shooting skills to improve and develop repeatable molding processes.
