Job summary

Amcor in Lawrence, KS is seeking a skilled Machinist for our Tool Room to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot molds and related equipment for production operations.

The role requires a machinist background or apprenticeship with hands-on experience operating lathes, mills, and grinders, plus proficiency with measuring tools. You will collaborate with Maintenance and Molding teams, document work, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Knowledge of injection mold components and systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate molding presses and assist in opening/closing molds for repair and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot basic molding process issues related to molds.
• Assist in setting, pulling, cleaning, and inspecting molds.
• Perform mold testing (water, air, and electrical) before release from the Tool Room.
• Wire and check all mold heaters.
• Monitor mold efficiencies and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Mold Maintenance Files.
• Apply green-tag status to molds that are production-ready.
• Assist with training of new team members.
• Collaborate with other departments as needed.
• Perform routine safety and equipment inspections.
