The position requires IL RN licensure, a BSN, and 1 year of related experience, with additional BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications preferred or required per cost center rules.

Qualifications

• BSN required for all new hires after 01/01/2011.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
• One year of experience in similar role.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• CPR – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (not required in some cost centers, up to 6 months post‑hire to complete).
• CPR – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (not required in some cost centers).
• Preferred: Three years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Nursing process: collect and analyze data, identify outcomes, develop and implement an individualized plan of care, coordinate care and evaluate outcomes.
• Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Involve patient/family in care, including teaching, continuum of care and discharge planning.
• Perform all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce medical errors per National Patient Safety Goals.
• Adequately assess and reassess pain; educate patient and family on pain management.
• Demonstrate effective hand-offs to the next healthcare provider.
• Assume required on-call assignments.
