Job summary

Ventura County Hematology Oncology Specialists (VCHOS) is seeking an Infusion RN to assess patient needs, develop care plans, and administer chemotherapy across our cancer care service lines. You will maintain records, monitor reactions, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Required is an RN license in California with an associates degree, 1 year nursing experience, and BLS/ACLS certification. Oncology experience and OncoEMR proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing is required.
• California RN license is required.
• BLS and/or ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience.
• Oncology/Hematology experience preferred.
• Experience with OncoEMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, detailed patient reports and records.
• Establish IV access and port as needed.
• Administer chemotherapy and other medications with monitoring.
• Track vital signs and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Coordinate with the care team to adjust plans as needed.
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms; supervise staff as required.

The Infusion RN will also administer care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients, as well as advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.Essential Functions:The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time with reasonable accommodation.Key Responsibilities:Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.Establish intravenous access via IV and port.Administer medications including chemotherapy, to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.Administer medications according to established policies and procedures.Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.Monitor, record, and report symptoms and/or changes in patients’ conditions.Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.Prepare rooms, sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.Comply with all appropriate and necessary safety and confidentiality regulations.Evaluate needs of patients and family and provide patient/family education.Other duties as assigned.
