Job summary

Stanthonyhospital in Iowa is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the oncology/medical-surgical unit. The role involves monitoring vital signs, managing central lines, administering chemotherapy with PPE, and providing comprehensive patient care.

You will document orders, educate patients, coordinate with the care team, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate holds an RN license, BSN preferred, and 2 years of professional nursing experience in a similar setting.

Qualifications

• RN with state license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Two years of experience as a professional nurse in a similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and monitor vital signs and observe for drug reactions.
• Access, assess and care for central lines, particularly venous access ports and PICC lines.
• Administer chemotherapy with appropriate precautions and PPE.
• Administer non-chemotherapy drugs and blood products.
• Listen to patients and attend to their physical and emotional needs.
• Start peripheral IVs, monitor the site and discontinue the IV when treatment is completed.
• Provide health care education on chemotherapy, other drugs, and side effects.
• Note physician orders with date, time and signature; receive verbal orders and read back.
• Complete nursing documentation prior to end of shift.
• Collaborate with cancer care team for holistic patient care.
• Make referrals to other departments.
• Respond to patient questions and document interactions.
• Assist with data collection and participate in QAPI activities.
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid/CPR as needed.
• Maintain professional, safe, and ethical behavior.
• Serve as patient advocate.
• Maintain good communication and service attitude.
• Participate in mandatory meetings and CEUs and maintain licensure.
• Willing to take assignments and float as needed.
• Adhere to Corporate Compliance and applicable regulations.
