Job summary

Metro Infusion Center (Affiliated with Metro Infectious Disease Consultants) seeks a licensed Nurse Practitioner to supervise and administer infusion therapy on a PRN basis at the Fairfield, CT clinic. Flexible schedule, balance, and competitive pay are highlighted benefits.

Qualifications

• APRN credential required.
• Experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred in infusion settings.

Responsibilities

• Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
• Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
• Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms and/or administration via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
• Document infusion charting and patient messages in EMR system.
• Address patient questions or concerns related to adverse effects within scope of mid-level provider.
• Use clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs and establish priorities.
• Monitor safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with the facility.
• Cover any clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
• Observe standards of nursing practice and comply with MIDC policies.

Specific Duties:

• Place and maintain peripheral IV catheters for infusion therapy needs with ongoing assessment of IV site.
• Prepare medication for IV administration as ordered.
• Administer IV therapy via electronic pump with troubleshooting of pump alarms and/or administration via gravity/dial-a-flow tubing.
• Document infusion charting and patient message(s) in EMR system.
• Addressing patient?s questions or concerns related to adverse effects/side effects, diagnosis, treatment etc. within scope of Mid-level provider.
• Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs establishing priorities.
• Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.
• Agree to cover any clinic as needed per direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
• Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) JCAHO, state and local laws; 3) MIDC policy.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
• Nurse Practitioner experience, preferably in an infusion related setting
• INFUSION EXPERIENCE
• Chemo experience is preferred, but not required
• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
