Job summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Part-Time Infusion Nurse is a key member of the research team performing Phase I-IV industry-sponsored clinical trials and is responsible for performing infusions of investigational medications in patients participating in clinical trials. The Infusion Nurse is responsible for preparing the patient, administering the infusion, and monitoring the patient to ensure safety while safeguarding the integrity and quality of clinical trials. Responsible for communicating appropriately with patients, investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs), and other study team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive patients, explain procedures, check vital signs, and administer infusions of investigational medication (or placebo) for clinical trials, monitor reactions, and report to Principal Investigators and Clinical Research Coordinators.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Experienced and confident in medical knowledge and the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) standards of practice.
• Adept at performing clinical tasks including phlebotomy, peripheral IV line insertion, and assisting physicians with procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Outstanding customer service and presentation skills.
• Kind, friendly, warm character and a reassuring manner with patients.
• Strong critical thinking skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:

• Registered Nurse (RN) diploma, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (or multi state license).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).
• Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of current clinical nursing experience required.
• Must be confident and adept at setting infusion lines in senior patients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
• Must be physically able to assist patients as needed, and able to lift up to 30 pounds at time.

Hourly Rate: $35.00-$50.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
