Job summary

New England Life Care in Woburn, MA is seeking an Infusion Nurse to deliver direct home infusion therapy under physician orders. You will assess patients, educate caregivers, and administer therapies while following Joint Commission, federal, and state regulations and NELC policies.

The role requires RN licensure in good standing, current BLS, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record. Previous home infusion experience is preferred. Weekend shifts may include a differential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing or diploma-equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two years acute care experience.
• Home infusion experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments for home infusion therapy.
• Provide patient and caregiver education about prescribed therapies.
• Demonstrate competency in aseptic administration and monitoring of infusion therapies.
• Document all patient assessments and communications in the patient record.
• Inserts and maintains infusion access per policies; troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation and case conferences as required.

New England Life Care currently has openings for Infusion Nurses that will service patients in Middlesex County and Woburn, Massachusetts. The ideal candidates for this position have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong desire to care for patients, and flexible schedules. A shift differential will be paid for any weekend shifts.

Job Summary:

The person in this position is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to home infusion therapy patients in conjunction with physician orders. Establishes, implements, and revises, as needed, a plan of treatment that meets each patient’s specific needs and follows Joint Commission, federal and state regulations, reimbursement guidelines and NELC policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Accurately performs initial and ongoing patient assessments of home infusion therapy patients.
• Provides comprehensive initial and ongoing patient and caregiver education relating to the prescribed home infusion therapy.
• Demonstrates competency in the aseptic administration and monitoring of all therapy types provided by NELC.
• Effectively communicates changes in patient status to appropriate members of infusion and reimbursement teams verbally and in writing (progress notes, e-mail, etc.) in a timely manner.
• Comprehensively documents all patient assessments and communication with patients, caregivers, and other members of the healthcare team in each patient’s record.
• Inserts, maintains / troubleshoots, and discontinues (as appropriate) all types of infusion access according to NELC policies and procedures.
• Maintains and demonstrates competency in the use and troubleshooting of infusion equipment and supplies.
• Participates in case conferences as needed.
• Participation in On Call rotation for Nursing department.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Nursing or diploma with equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years acute care experience.
• Previous Home Infusion Therapy experience preferred.

Regulatory Requirements:

• R.N. license in good standing in the state(s) where providing care / services
• Current BLS Certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent driving record.
• Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations preferred.
• Knowledge of the Joint Commission accreditation process and overall JC standards preferred.
