Job summary

Black Box is seeking Infrastructure Technicians II/III to support large‑scale data center projects. The role focuses on hands-on fiber optic and copper cabling installation, testing, and decommissioning within secured data centers.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years in low‑voltage or structured cabling, familiarity with industry standards, and the ability to mentor junior technicians. Occasional travel and overtime may be required as project needs dictate.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in telecommunications or structured cabling or related low-voltage work.
• Hands-on fiber and copper cabling installation, testing, servicing, and decommissioning.
• Read and interpret blueprints and documentation.
• Data center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of cabling.
• Install/remove racks, cabinets, cable trays, pathways, and related data center infra.
• Lead and mentor other technicians on jobs and best practices.
• Follow applicable standards (TIA, NEC, ANSI, EIA, BICSI).

Job description

Black Box is hiring Infrastructure Technicians II and III to support structured cabling and physical infrastructure within large-scale data center environments.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM

Occasional evenings, weekends, overtime, or after-hours work may be required based on project needs.

• 3-5 years of telecommunications, structured cabling, or related low-voltage experience
• Hands-on fiber optic and copper cabling installation, testing, servicing, and decommissioning
• Install/remove racks, cabinets, cable trays, pathways, and related data center infrastructure
• Route, label, terminate, test, and commission cabling
• Read and interpret blueprints and installation documentation
• Data center experience strongly preferred
• 5+ years of low-voltage or structured cabling experience
• Advanced copper and fiber installation, testing, and certification
• Experience with OTDR, VFL, Fluke DSX8000, or similar testing equipment
• Ability to lead and mentor technicians
• Knowledge of TIA, BICSI, NEC, ANSI, and EIA standards

Additional Requirements

• Able to work at heights and in tight/raised-floor environments
• Able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver's license
• OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, FOA, and BICSI certifications preferred
• Must be flexible for occasional overtime, weekends, after-hours work, and U.S. travel

This is a hands-on opportunity to work on large-scale data center infrastructure projects with potential for contract extension or direct hire.
