Job summary

RED Global in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Systems Engineer to join an enterprise infrastructure team. This hands-on role maintains and automates both on‑premises and Microsoft Azure infrastructure in a hybrid environment.

The candidate will manage VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, storage, and networking, and will design, deploy, and support Azure compute, networking, storage, and identity services.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Azure administration and engineering.
  • Strong VMware vSphere/vCenter administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting HPE enterprise server and storage platforms.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise networking.
  • Experience with disaster recovery, backup, and high availability solutions.

  • Design, document, and execute disaster recovery and business continuity testing.

  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, Conditional Access, and hybrid identity.
  • Optimize Azure resources through cost governance, right-sizing, and licensing strategies.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.

Location: Chicago, IL (Downtown) – Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (6-month initial contract)

Start Date: August 2026

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Systems Engineer to join a growing enterprise infrastructure team supporting a modern hybrid environment. This is a hands‑on engineering role responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and automating both on‑premises and Microsoft Azure infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, Azure cloud technologies, HPE server environments, and infrastructure automation. Responsibilities:
Hybrid Infrastructure & Data Center
  • Administer and optimize physical and virtual server environments.

HPE Infrastructure
  • Support HPE ProLiant, Synergy, and BladeSystem environments.
  • Administer HPE OneView, iLO, server profiles, firmware baselines, and hardware health.
  • Manage HPE storage platforms including 3PAR and Nimble Storage.
  • Utilize HPE InfoSight and related tools for proactive monitoring and optimization.
  • Coordinate with vendor support for hardware maintenance and break/fix activities.
Operations & Automation
  • Monitor and maintain both cloud and on‑premises infrastructure.
  • Automate provisioning, patching, compliance, and operational workflows using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, or Ansible.
  • Maintain enterprise services including Active Directory, Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, certificates, backups, and replication.
  • Implement security best practices across hybrid environments.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, incident response, and continuous infrastructure improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, or cloud engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Azure administration and engineering.
  • Strong VMware vSphere/vCenter administration experience.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting HPE enterprise server and storage platforms.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Azure CLI, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise networking.
  • Experience with disaster recovery, backup, and high availability solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP‑DCV)
  • HPE certifications
  • Experience with Veeam, Zerto, Commvault, or Azure Site Recovery
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Datadog, SCOM, or similar monitoring platforms
  • Experience working within regulated enterprise environments
Additional Information
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in downtown Chicago
  • Initial 6‑month contract with strong potential for permanent hire
