Job summary

Rehabilitation & Correction - Operation Support Center is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist to manage and secure the agency's IT infrastructure. The role focuses on monitoring networks, implementing cybersecurity best practices, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure smooth operations across VNFs and gateways.

The candidate will design solutions with IT Architects, document resolutions, and participate in 24/7 incident response.

Qualifications

  • 60 mos. combined work experience in IT policies, procedures and practices, and leading IT-driven change efforts, with 12 mos. in the primary technology.
  • Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems or 42 mos. combined IT experience.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems or 36 mos. combined IT experience.
  • Equivalent of the minimum class qualifications listed in the position description.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current IT policies, procedures and practices and recommend improvements.
  • Lead IT-driven change efforts and contribute to project tasks and deadlines.
  • Monitor network for security threats and manage routing/switching technologies and Firewalls.
  • Support DNS, DHCP and SMTP services and manage Group Policy.
  • Design solutions with IT Architects to meet agency requirements and work with vendors to solve integration problems.
  • Document problem resolutions and maintain incident response procedures.
  • Respond to incidents on a 24-hour basis and participate in meetings and trainings.

Job Description
  • Requires extensive working technical knowledge of infrastructure operations and maintenance and receives general direction in order to evaluate current IT policies, procedures, and practices
  • Recommend and/or lead IT driven change efforts, participates in and/or leads activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and perform solutions design
  • Monitor network for security threats or unauthorized users/access Oversees routing and switching technologies (e.g., Cisco Meraki and Catalyst IOS XE Platforms, FTD Firewalls (FTD on ASA5525-x, FTD on firepower 2130, firewall 3120 Threat defense, firepower 1120 with FTD, firewall 3110 Threat defense), ANS Cloud Firewalls Cisco NCS Platforms, and all related protocols); supportingMicrosoft ADFS/Domain Management, Group Policy (GPO) management, and support, management and troubleshooting of DNS, DHCP and SMTP services
  • Implementing cybersecurity best practices in network credentials, authentication, profiling, and role-based user identity management supporting compliance efforts with PCI-DSS and NIST CSF Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to VPN connectivity and performance; collaborating with IT teams, security analysts and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of NGFW solutions.
  • Works with IT Architect staff, CIO or IT Managers to design solutions that meet the agency’s requirements (e.g., network design and architecture solutions)
  • Assists analysis of the solution design’s business case; authors portions of the solution business case; works with vendors, other specialists and/or agencies to solve integration problems.
  • Evaluates current IT policies, procedures, and practices and makes recommendations and enforces network security policies.
  • Plan and conduct formal mentorship activities for peers and/or lower-level staff via verbal instruction or technical documentation
  • Develops network incident response procedures and create documentation
  • Provides direction and/or participates in documenting and communicating problem resolutions with other information technology staff
  • Responds to incidents on a 24-hour basis and attend meetings, trainings and conferences
  • Must conduct oneself professionally and in a law-abiding manner at all
