Job summary

Severn Trent Services is recruiting an Infrastructure Services Operative (Ganger) to join our team covering the Reading/Berkshire region. You will install, repair and maintain water pipes and fittings to high quality and safety standards while working in a two-man crew.

Daily travel within your allocated region is required, and a full UK driving licence is essential. We welcome lively, caring individuals who want to make a difference in the communities we serve.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications are required for this role.
• Keen to learn about water mains servicing, water fitting installation and repair.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and risk assessments is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Install/repair and maintain water pipes and fittings to Work Order standards.
• Maintain professional expertise to handle diverse mains, services and equipment.
• Keep vehicle tidy and report faults to the line manager.
• Judge materials for safe, cost-effective repairs and report results to Head Office daily.

Job description

As a Infrastructure Services Operative, you will be installing and maintaining water pipes and the associated fittings on our customer's sites. You will be a part of a two-man team and complete the work up to the highest quality and health and safety standards. In this role you will be able to start work from home and travel across your allocated region on a daily basis. Some of your key accountabilities will be:

• Install / repair and maintain water pipes and associated fittings as per Work Order instruction / job pack meeting relevant quality and productivity standards.
• Maintain level of professional expertise to ensure ability is held to install/repair/maintain a wide range of makes, types and complexities of water mains, services and associated equipment.
• To maintain a tidy vehicle both internally and externally and report any faults to relevant line manager.
• Exercise judgments on materials used to ensure the appropriate and safe repair is balanced with the requirement to maximize cost effectiveness. Provide full feedback on work undertaken to Head Office daily.
• Provide high level of customer service to maintain customer expectations of quality service provision.
• Participate in '24 hour reactive standby rota to assist company in maintaining service provision to its customers.
  Whilst there are no formal qualifications required for this role, we're looking for people who are keen to learn about water mains servicing, water fitting installation and repair. It would be helpful if you had some knowledge of Health and Safety and risk assessments.
