Job summary

State of Indiana, through INDOT Seymour District, offers a dynamic civil engineering role focused on construction and maintenance lifecycle, from preliminary checks to final records. You’ll oversee a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, cost-effective infrastructure projects in a high-impact environment.

The role requires licensure as a Professional Engineer in Indiana, strong leadership, and broad civil/transportation knowledge.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineers license in Indiana required.
• Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
• Broad knowledge of civil/transportation disciplines. Understanding of department design standards, policies, and practices. Knowledge of CAD, spreadsheets, databases, and scheduling.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans; define problems, collect data, communicate with stakeholders, and draw engineering solutions.
• Ability to plan and develop engineering projects with unique or controversial problems and/or novel concepts.
• A degree is not required, but at least four years of professional engineering experience and leadership experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering policies and plans for projects with significant impact on major programs.
• Provide budgetary information, conduct research and assist long-range planning.
• Evaluate policies, revise as needed, and implement changes.
• Assess impact of policy changes, coordinate research, and direct evaluation efforts.
