Job summary

MatX is building a second infrastructure engineer to broaden capacity in Linux, networking, and cloud tooling. You’ll work on a hybrid Mountain View, CA team, debugging kernel issues, untangling cloud networking, and developing MCP server integrations for unfamiliar protocols.

You’ll pair with the system owner on compute, CI, shared storage, and Terraform-managed cloud setups, taking ownership as you grow in the role. Strong generalist instincts and IaC experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Deep Linux systems knowledge and debugging across OS, network, and cloud.
• Strong networking expertise: VPCs, DNS, firewalls, private connectivity, trust boundaries.
• Experience with IaC on major cloud platforms (Terraform on GCP) and cloud tooling.
• Ability to read and ship small tools or services to help engineers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and fix Linux and networking issues across OS, network, and cloud stack.
• Build internal tools and integrations to speed the engineering team.
• Support the infrastructure stack: compute, CI, shared storage, developer VMs, and cloud setup.
• Onboard new hires and help teammates debug environment problems.
