Job summary

McDonald’s Global Technology is seeking an Engineer I for Restaurant Systems Management (RSM) within the GTIO team. The role focuses on engineering and development of restaurant device configuration, deployment automation, and integration with global enterprise systems.

You will set patterns, build dashboards, and support incident management across McDonald’s infrastructure. The position reports to the Senior Technical Product Manager and involves transforming infrastructure and operations

This opportunity is part of theGlobal Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers.

The Engineer I (Restaurant Systems Management - RSM) is part of the Restaurant Infrastructure & Operations Platform team within Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations (GTIO). This role reports to the Senior Technical Product Manager (RSM) and is responsible for RSM Engineering / Development, integration with other Restaurant and Enterprise systems, and setting patterns and direction for development. The RSM platform includes tools, processes, and services related to restaurant device configuration and management, compliance, software installation and security patching.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help shape the transformation of infrastructure and operations products and services to the entire McDonalds environment.

Duties

• Create, maintain, and support software package standards and runbook.
• Create automation to collect RSM KPIs (e.g. deployments, packages, etc.).

• Setup integration of global and US labs with Tanium dev environment, including device configuration.
• Create patterns, templates and samples to convert SCCM packages to Tanium packages .
• Created the blueprint for global applications (eProduction, TDA extractor) to meet GCS and GTIO standards.
• Created global task sequences to perform device health remediation for disk cleanup and time zone changes.
• Create packages and custom scripts for software installations and uninstallations.
• Configure and schedule one-time and ongoing deployments, scheduled tasks, filter groups, and maintenance windows.
• Build deployment rings using custom tags.
• Build dashboards on endpoint management platform.
• Build ad hoc reports using custom scripts to interact with various APIs.
• Providing incident management support for production issues.

Qualifications

• Understanding of Servers (Microsoft Windows, Linux), Clients (Microsoft Windows, Linux) and Android / Apple systems
• Experience with building systems from bare metal (OS installation, network configurations, domain join, software installation, etc.)
• Experience with cloud solutions in one or more major cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience with using endpoint management and automation platforms such as Tanium, Intune, and Ansible
• Experience with writing custom scripts using Python, PowerShell, etc.
• Experience with OS images, deployments, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
• Understanding of IT Infrastructure / Platform and Cloud development, including:
  • Server, Edge, IOT Compute
  • Virtualization, Containerization
  • Container Management Systems
  • Event, Messaging Systems
  • Observability Systems (Performance, Telemetry)
  • HA Platform Designs
  • Cloud, Hybrid, Hyperconvergence Environments
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
• Passion for emerging technology and real-world applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills: able to present facts, thoughts, and ideas in a clear, concise manner to senior stakeholders.
• Understand customer centricity, and develop products with that mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with infrastructure as Code, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
• Experience with on-premise, Edge and Cloud platform design patterns and vendor platform capabilities; experience deploying Edge or Cloud tools and technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and partner across product and platform teams within a global engineering organization.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and navigate to drive results within a globally distributed organization.
• Experience building and managing infrastructure platforms that address global complexities, meet security standards, and support differences between markets/regions.
• Experience with building dashboards and reporting
• Experience with building CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with building automated device provisioning processes

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is$84,051.00 -$105,064.00per year
