Job summary

McKissack & McKissack is seeking an Engineer in Washington, DC to contribute to infrastructure projects, GIS mapping, and construction documentation. The role involves developing construction documents, reviewing calculations, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of technical experience, a District PE or plans to obtain one within 6–12 months, and strong GIS skills to deliver precise analyses and graphics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ professional experience performing technical work.
• Experience with contract documents in Fairfax County and Loudon County is preferred.
• Has a District PE, or is able to get a PE within 6 months-1 year of hire (DC, Virginia, and Maryland PE).
• Proficient in GIS; ability to create GIS maps and figures.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare calculations, permit applications, monitoring plans and progress reports.
• Develop conceptual drawings related to infrastructure and shop drawing review, response to requests for information, and addressing construction issues and conflicts as they arise.
• Develop construction documents and specifications.
• Conduct GIS map creation and exhibit development.
• Perform spatial analysis related to infrastructure, ecological restoration and/or development
