Job summary

Wismettac Asian Foods Inc. is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to oversee day-to-day IT operations, network and server administration, and access management in a hybrid work setting.

You will secure, monitor, and maintain our IT environment while providing hands-on and remote support to users and systems. Responsibilities include configuring security controls, performing upgrades, supporting backups and DR plans, and coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.

Job description

The Infrastructure Engineer is a vital IT professional responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of an organization's computer network and systems. This hybrid role combines the duties of a network administrator (focused on the physical network infrastructure) and a systems administrator (focused on software, servers, and user access). You will ensure the company's IT environment is secure, reliable, and performs optimally. You'll be responsible for maintaining and administering computer networks and related environments, providing both hands-on and remote help-desk support. Your duties will include troubleshooting network and system issues, performing upgrades and installations, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure seamless operation and alignment with business objectives. Your technical expertise will be crucial in documenting network infrastructure, ensuring security compliance, and managing vendor relationships.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain all network and server hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and both physical and virtual servers.
• Monitor and enforce security measures to protect the network and data from unauthorized access and cyber threats. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and user permissions to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Serve as a point of contact for technical issues, providing hands-on and remote support to diagnose and resolve problems with hardware, software, and network connectivity promptly.
• Continuously monitor the performance of the network and systems to identify areas for improvement. Proactively perform upgrades, installations, and configurations to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Support backup procedures and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
• Collaborate with IT teams and management to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of IT infrastructure, fulfilling business objectives. Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software to meet evolving company needs.
• Maintain detailed and up-to-date records of network configurations, procedures, and diagrams. Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with external service providers as needed.
• Work closely with the business to ensure that individuals within the organization are granted the appropriate level of access to resources. This collaboration helps maintain the balance between security and operational efficiency.
• Actively participate in access management-related projects and initiatives, such as implementing new security measures, integrating systems, or enhancing access control processes.
• Maintain access management standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation and detailed documentation of access management for each system of responsibility. This documentation helps ensure compliance and makes audits more efficient.
• Support WMS infrastructure and warehouse technology, including network connectivity for Zebra handheld devices, label printers, scanners, and related systems.
• Regularly review access reports to identify potential risks or violations. This proactive approach helps maintain a secure access environment and minimizes the risk of unauthorized access.
• Adjust access management to changing business needs. Align access controls with changing roles and requirements to ensure that access remains appropriate and secure.

Experience/ Training/ Education

• 1 to 3 years of experience in system administration and access management.
• Experience in managing operating systems, databases, and network configurations.
• Familiarity with ERP systems is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field of study.

• Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks under various time constraints. Must be able to perform job responsibilities as the workload fluctuates and keep multiple projects progressing simultaneously.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, including desktop systems, operating systems, network connectivity, and common business applications.
• IT Service Management: Basic knowledge of issue ticketing systems and ticket/case lifecycle management. Proficiency in IT service management principles, processes, and tools, with a focus on incident management and request fulfillment.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, coupled with a customer-centric mindset.
• Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.

• Language: Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Proficiency in a second language, such as Japanese or Chinese, is preferred but not required.

Working conditions

Work in offices close to top management. Generally, work forty hours per week; however, some work shifts or extended hours during busy periods. When schedules change and problems arise, working under pressure is unavoidable, but deadlines and goals must still be met. Due to system maintenance or IT-related support, you may be required to be on-call on an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays. Additionally, this position involves occasional travel (up to 20% to 25%) for branch visits, on-site deployments, or company IT initiatives.
