Job summary

Datacareers in South Manchester is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join an MSP, providing 3rd/4th line support across diverse environments (on-prem, cloud and hybrid).

You will work with Azure, Windows Server, Nutanix, VMware, Citrix and backup solutions, contributing to migrations and infrastructure modernisation while delivering reliable, scalable IT services for multiple clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' IT experience, including at least two years in infrastructure engineering or 3rd line support.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Veeam, Azure Backup or equivalent.
• Good networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching and VPNs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 3rd and 4th line technical support across customer infrastructure environments, taking ownership of complex incidents and escalations.
• Implement, support and maintain Windows Server, Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
• Support virtualisation environments, including Nutanix, VMware, Citrix and Hyper-V.
• Contribute to infrastructure migration projects, including virtualisation platform transitions, upgrades and technology refreshes.
• Troubleshoot server, storage, networking, backup and replication issues.
• Implement and support disaster recovery, business continuity and high-availability solutions.
• Manage and maintain Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Work closely with internal technical teams, external vendors and customers to resolve complex infrastructure challenges.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and capacity, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and support knowledge sharing across the wider team.

Infrastructure Engineer - 3rd Line Support

Location: South Manchester (Hybrid - onsite 2 days a week)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (+ benefits)

We are recruiting for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established IT Managed Services Provider, supporting a diverse range of customer environments across on-premises, cloud and hybrid infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, working across multiple technologies and contributing to infrastructure projects and migrations.

The successful candidate will work with Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Nutanix, VMware, Citrix and a range of backup, storage and networking technologies.

The business is currently undertaking infrastructure modernisation and virtualisation migration activities, providing an opportunity to gain further experience with evolving technologies.

• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Veeam, Azure Backup or equivalent.
• Good networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching and VPNs.
• Proven troubleshooting skills, with experience resolving complex technical incidents.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and technical colleagues.
• Hands-on experience with Nutanix, particularly infrastructure migrations.
• Experience supporting VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter.
• Citrix infrastructure support and administration.
• Microsoft, Nutanix, VMware or Citrix certifications.
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting, automation or Terraform.
• Previous experience working within an MSP or multi-customer technical environment.
• Experience delivering infrastructure migrations, upgrades and improvement projects.
