Job Description:

The Engineer III, Windows and Virtualization Infrastructure is part of an enterprise infrastructure team performing engineering and operational work within multiple datacenters and environments. This role assists in the design, architecture, and hands on execution of new systems and integrations targeted for both customer and business unit needs. Additionally, this role supports existing production technologies while continuing to improve and futureproof through maintaining an approach of reliability and simplicity using a clear understanding of fundamentals of the tech stack.

• Primarily responsible for the management of our compute, storage, and software.

Responsibilities related to managing these platforms are:

• Creation and configuration of greenfield datacenter sites as well as retrofitting existing locations.
• Performing system integration of new technologies and solutions through the research, design, implementation, configuration, and maintenance phases.
• Maintaining and managing several virtualization clusters with oversight of current and future capacity planning needs.
• Assisting in monitoring solutions and their notifications and actionable recovery.
• Co-maintaining fiber channel, VxLAN, and NAS solutions while continuing to maintain fault tolerance, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Analyzing user and application requirements to determine operating system, storage, memory, and CPU needs for both physical and virtual servers.
• Assisting with the development, analysis, configuration, and implementation of storage architectures. This includes gathering and analysis of application and end user storage requirements and IO performance needs. Determining the proper storage layouts and disaster recovery profiles.
• Collaborating with networking and security teams to deliver solutions for both internal business units and end customers.
• Ensuring that all service platforms and applications are backed up according to established policies and procedures.
• Participating in future technology direction discussions, leveraging experience, and active research.

This role will also:

• Act as an engineering level escalation resource to the Network Operations Center (NOC) and other operations groups to assist with high level fault analysis and isolation.
• Assist and contribute to the analysis, configuration, and deployment of high availability systems and storage architecture.
• Work closely with other team members on new technology and systems solutions.
• Document systems and application design and configuration.
• Provide professional support to customers, both internal and external.
• Maintain, enhance, and deploy new and existing software and hardware technologies within our testing lab.
• Mentor other colleagues in areas of expertise.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
• 6+ years of infrastructure engineering experience including hands-on experience supporting enterprise Windows Server and virtualization platforms
• Expertise with Windows Server operating systems.
• Expertise and understanding of Active Directory administration and architecture
• Experience and understanding of VDI solutions
• Experience with Windows operating systems and Office applications.
• Strong grasp of TCP/IP Networking fundamentals.
• Good understanding of storage technologies.
• Strong understanding of enterprise backup solutions, Veeam experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMWare, ProxMox, Xen, Hyper-V
• Experience in managing complex systems infrastructure projects.
