EXCO Resources, Inc. is a private independent oil and natural gas company engaged in the acquisition, development and exploitation of onshore North American properties. Our principal operations are in key U.S. oil and natural gas areas, including Texas, Louisiana and the Appalachia region. Our headquarters are in Dallas, TX.

Infrastructure Engineer in our IT department, to be based in our Dallas office.

Primary Objective

Seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Infrastructure Engineer to design, install, automate, administer, and optimize company servers, network, cloud services, and related infrastructure to achieve high performance and availability of supported business applications. This role reports to the IT Operations Manager. It covers a broad mix of infrastructure in a mid-size company, from routing and firewalls to Active Directory, virtualization, and backup, both on-premises and in the cloud. The role includes developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the overall company environment, and it plays a key part in upgrading and replacing aging systems over the next several years. The right candidate is comfortable working across many technologies to debug and fix problems. This role also assists in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the company’s server room and data center equipment.

Major Functions and Scope

• Develop, test and maintain infrastructure-as-code and configuration automation using Ansible and Terraform.
• Manage source control repositories and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and automation code.
• Build, deploy and administer container platforms on Linux hosts.
• Administer cloud productivity, infrastructure and identity services, including licensing, access policies, single sign-on and cost management.
• Support LAN/WAN, wireless, routing, switching, IP management, remote access and network monitoring.
• Administer next-generation firewalls and intrusion prevention.
• Administer server virtualization, virtual desktop and application delivery platforms.
• Perform regular vulnerability scanning and remediation across IT and OT environments, and monitor and analyze logs and security events to identify possible intrusions.
• Monitor system health and capacity, apply patches, tune performance, and repair failures and restore service, coordinating with impacted users.
• Manage enterprise backup, offsite media and disaster recovery processes, and perform regular restore testing.
• Plan and carry out system upgrades, migrations and retirements, including test plans, rollback plans, maintenance windows and user communications.
• Perform scheduled after-hours maintenance and participate in an on-call support rotation.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures and standards.

Required Qualifications

Education and Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices.

Experience

5+ years of progressive experience in systems, network or infrastructure administration in an enterprise environment.
