Job description

About Cove
Cove is a leading provider of software solutions to owners and operators across all asset classes of commercial real estate. We are redefining real estate technology by consolidating previously-disconnected functionality and replacing legacy systems in buildings across the country, including Willis Tower - the largest multi-tenant office building in North America. Our team works closely with property managers, landlords, engineers, and tenants to simplify their real estate experience and add value to their assets. Backed by strategic investors (including Blackstone), Cove is a fast-growing startup entering a new phase of growth and we're looking for bright, motivated, and hard-working professionals to join us.
About the Role
As a Infrastructure/DevOps Engineer at cove you'll be part of cove's cross-functional platform team working along experienced Principal Infrastructure and Platform Engineers. We serve a broad mission of cross-cutting concerns of our platform: we are in charge of running the infrastructure, security and compliance, observerability, performance, platform architecture as well as the developer experience.
Thus our diverse set of problems require us to collaborate closely together and we frequently chat or jump on impromptu huddles to solve a problem or get each other unstuck. Our entire engineering team is distributed remotely across multiple (north american) timezones.
About you
  • You automate everything: from deployments to incident escalation, to brewing your coffee in the morning.
  • You have a strong Infrastructure as Code and GitOps mentality
  • You are detail oriented and thorough
  • You take pride in your work, even if no one else sees it.
  • You love to learn new things and jump into the deep end
  • You are a good citizen and a respectful colleague.
  • You are experienced in remote collaboration and communication
  • You have a whatever-it-takes attitude

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage our production and SLDC infrastructure
  • Harden our security and compliance posture
  • Manage and monitor health and performance our infrastructure
  • Collaborate with and support cove's development teams
  • Manage incidents and the response processes
  • Participate and improve team ceremonies
  • On-call rotation for the platform team (we're very sensible, we don't like to get woken up either)

Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience as a Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of at least one cloud hosting service preferably AWS
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices
  • Strong networking, routing, and security experience
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform or Pulumi
  • Experience with Bash and at least some other scripting language (e.g. Python, Javascript, etc)
  • Some experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Github Actions
  • Some experience Database deployments
  • Some experience with Docker
  • Experience with web/application servers, REST APIs, load balancers, and proxies
  • Experience with datadog or other observability platforms
