Job summary

Archer Western, part of The Walsh Group, seeks a skilled Carpenter for the I-81 Widening Project in Roanoke, VA. The candidate will construct, install, and assemble wooden structures for bridges, walls, and related components on heavy civil projects.

Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, and fitting lumber; using hand and power tools; complying with safety policies; and supporting teamwork across conditions and weather. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of verifiable carpenter experience preferred.
• Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds/ladders.
• Lift up to 50 lbs; work in varying weather conditions.
• Follow safety policies and communicate effectively with crew.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Good manual dexterity; may stand, bend, kneel, or sit for long periods.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances and mark guidelines for layout.
• Build and install wooden structures per prefabricated units.
• Assist with installation of awnings or metal decking on slabs as needed.
• Use carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
