The Work

• Prepare Independent Cost Estimates (ICE) during planning, design, and construction phases.
• Review and finalize Engineer’s estimates, considering project constraints such as phasing, operations, and scheduling impacts.
• Develop detailed cost estimates from conceptual plans or engineering drawings, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Generate Constructability Reports to identify design deficiencies and support realistic budgeting.
• Reconcile ICEs with third-party estimates through collaborative discussions and communicate outcomes.
• Analyze contractor and subcontractor bids to align with internal cost projections.
• Identify production cost influencers and required field equipment for accurate estimating.
• Present estimates to stakeholders and lead negotiation meetings with contractors.
• Prepare material take-offs and detailed cost breakdowns for systems and subsystems.
• Maintain historical cost data to support future estimate development.
• Review contracts and modifications to determine fair cost allowances for scope changes.
• Lead and support change order negotiations, including weekly reviews of contractor change notices.
• Ensure contractual compliance and fair pricing through technical review, benchmarking, and negotiation documentation.
• Work onsite at client sites to enable delivery and strengthen client relationships.

Salary range: $208,000 - $228,800 per year.

Compensation varies based on factors such as location, role, skills, and experience. For roles in certain states, a legal range is provided as per local law.

Minimum Requirements

• 20+ years of general estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Certified estimating professional credential.
• Experience working with agencies like FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change negotiations.
• Ability to obtain independent estimates from vendors/contractors and negotiate effectively.
• Deep knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
• Results-oriented, self-starter attitude.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
