THE WORK:
  1. Prepare Independent Cost Estimates (ICE) during planning, design, and construction phases.
  2. Review and finalize Engineer’s estimates, considering project constraints.
  3. Develop detailed cost estimates from plans or drawings, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  4. Generate Constructability Reports to identify design deficiencies and support budgeting.
  5. Reconcile ICEs with third-party estimates through discussions and communicate outcomes.
  6. Analyze bids to ensure alignment with internal projections.
  7. Identify cost influencers and field equipment needs for accurate estimating.
  8. Present estimates and lead negotiations with contractors.
  9. Prepare material take-offs and detailed cost breakdowns.
  10. Maintain historical cost data for future estimates.
  11. Review contracts and modifications for fair cost allowances.
  12. Lead change order negotiations and review contractor notices.
  13. Ensure contractual compliance and fair pricing through reviews and benchmarking.
  14. Work onsite with clients to enable delivery and foster relationships.

Salary Range: $208,000 - $228,800 annually.

Compensation varies based on location, role, skills, and experience. For roles in certain states, a legal minimum range is provided as per local law.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 20+ years of estimating experience related to engineering and construction projects.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Certified estimating professional credential.
  • Extensive experience working with external agencies such as FAA, LADBS, LADWP, etc.
BONUS POINTS:
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with complex estimate reconciliation and change negotiations.
  • Experience obtaining and checking estimates from vendors/contractors.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
  • Results-oriented, self-starter attitude.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Team-oriented and detail-minded.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
