Job summary

fab2 seeks an Infrastructure and Site Reliability Intern to design, build, deploy, and manage our on‑prem backend infrastructure powering a fast semiconductor fab. This broad role covers all aspects of backend infra with a hardware-first ethos, minimal Docker/Kubernetes, and emphasis on Rust and Go.

Portfolio demonstrating real builds is required for application. The internship runs from September for 4–8 months, with hourly pay and a strong emphasis on rapid iteration, performance engineering,

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in CS/CE or demonstrated exceptional software engineering skill.
• Strong programming skills in Rust or Go.
• Solid understanding of Linux, networking and distributed systems.
• Experience building or maintaining non-trivial infrastructure, automation, or tooling projects.
• Interest in systems reliability, observability, infrastructure automation, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve infrastructure-as-code tooling for multi-environment deployments.
• Help manage on-premises servers for high availability and resource utilization.
• Monitor and maintain system performance across production workloads.
• Design, implement, and refine alerting systems to preempt issues.
• Build automation to reduce toil and improve efficiency.
• Implement secure secret management.
• Debug production issues across the stack.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable infrastructure.
