Job summary

Andreessen Horowitz is seeking a Software Engineer for the Applied Software Group in San Francisco to build and own internal developer platforms and tooling that accelerate firm-wide product delivery.

You will own the infrastructure, work with cybersecurity, and ship improvements with increasing autonomy. In-office presence 2–3 days a week, competitive compensation at Partner levels, and access to carry programs and discretionary bonuses are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python 3, Rust or similar backend languages.
• Track record of defining and shipping developer platforms or internal tooling that measurably improved engineering velocity.
• Experience deploying services on major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Experience with containerized services (Docker); Kubernetes is a plus.
• Exposure to CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar).
• Experience working with production SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code concepts (Terraform, Pulumi).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to and improve the internal developer platform and tooling.
• Understand diverse use-cases from a broad user base and assist projects accordingly.
• Build and maintain shared tooling, templates, and libraries to accelerate development.
• Support observability, monitoring, and alerting for self-serve issue resolution.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity to meet security and compliance requirements.
• Write and maintain developer documentation, onboarding guides, and runbooks.
• Own assigned projects through production support with increasing autonomy.
• Write clear, maintainable code and foster inclusive collaboration.
• Stay curious about new tools and approaches relevant to infrastructure.
