Job summary

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority-Tampa International Airport is seeking an Information Security Intern to support vulnerability management and security monitoring in a learning-focused role.

You'll work under supervision with senior staff, gaining hands-on experience with security tools, audits, and regulatory considerations while developing practical knowledge in the fast-changing information security field.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in information systems, CS, MIS, or a related field.
• No prior professional experience required; coursework or projects related to information security are a plus.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine vulnerability scans under senior staff guidance.
• Support SIEM functions including log review, alert triage, and incident documentation.
• Help maintain documentation of security incidents, audit findings, and vulnerability assessments.
• Participate in internal security audits and compliance reviews.
• Help develop materials for security awareness training.
• Research current security threats and industry trends.
• Provide entry-level support for security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus) under supervision.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams on projects to gain hands-on experience.
