Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking an Information System Security Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on DoD RMF security controls across cloud environments.

The role emphasizes hands-on vulnerability remediation, IaC/CaC tooling, and ongoing security compliance. You will collaborate with system administrators and developers to harden systems, monitor posture with Splunk, ACAS, Defender, and Clam AV, and apply STIGs to meet DoD requirements.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• BS or higher in Cybersecurity, CS, IT, Eng, Applied Math, or related field.
• Active AWS Certification.
• 5–7 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3–5 years with a master’s degree.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities

• Identify and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities with system admins, software developers, and customers.
• Deploy and manage security tools via IaC and CaC to monitor health, assess security compliance, and investigate findings.
• Apply DISA STIGs, security best practices, and configuration management to harden systems and maintain DoD RMF compliance.
