Job summary

SelectOne is seeking a Systems Administrator in Buffalo, NY to provide advanced technical support and help manage our IT infrastructure. You will escalate complex issues from Tier 1, troubleshoot Windows, Microsoft 365, AD/Entra ID, networking, and endpoint management, and contribute to process improvements.

You'll gain exposure to Windows Server and VMware environments, maintain documentation, and support security tooling and patching through RMM/MDM platforms while mentoring Tier 1 staff.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of IT support or systems administration experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows environments and Microsoft 365.
• Familiarity with Active Directory or Entra ID and basic networking.
• PowerShell experience and relevant certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 and resolve more complex hardware, software, connectivity and user access issues.
• Support Windows 11 endpoints and Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint.
• Administer users, groups, permissions and access within Active Directory and Entra ID.
• Deploy and maintain applications, patches, security tools and endpoint policies through RMM/MDM platforms.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity including DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPNs and VLANs.
• Assist with Windows Server, VMware, file shares, backups and other infrastructure-related issues.
• Use PowerShell for troubleshooting, reporting and basic administrative tasks.
• Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement longer-term solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation and provide guidance to Tier 1 support.

Job description

The Systems Administrator will provide advanced technical support while assisting with the administration of the company’s systems and infrastructure. This person will serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 support and troubleshoot more complex issues across Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking and endpoint management.

The role will also provide exposure to Windows Server and VMware environments and will help improve IT processes, documentation and overall support for the organization.

Requirements

• 2-3+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration or a similar technical role
• Strong experience supporting Windows environments and Microsoft 365
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory and/or Entra ID
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, VPNs and TCP/IP
• Experience with endpoint management, RMM or MDM tools
• Familiarity with Windows Server and virtualization environments
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PowerShell & macOS support. Relevant CompTIA or Microsoft certifications
