Ho-Chunk, Inc. is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to support the Education Center at Travis AFB, CA. The role ensures high-standard customer support, minimizes downtime for offices, classrooms, labs, and testing assets, and maintains lab servers with current Windows software.

The position requires one year of recent experience and mandatory A+ and Security+ certifications. A part-time schedule is typical (0730–1230), with full federal benefits offered to eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Must have proven minimum of one year of current experience (within the past five years).
• Mandatory A+ and Security+ certifications are required.
• Familiarity with Air Force systems and DLPT/Career Development tools is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain computer/testing lab servers and ensure Windows operating systems are current.
• Maintain local area network, routers, switches, servers, and Wi‑Fi access points.
• Provide PC desktop and server support for FSDE computers, printers, and peripherals.
• Establish backup methodologies and safeguard critical data for uninterrupted service.
• Install and configure new hardware/software and set up/adjust IT equipment and furniture as needed.
• Perform daily inspections of IT and AV equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for future systems improvements and tech refreshes.
• Conduct annual inventories as alternate equipment custodian and maintain asset records.

Summary

The Information Technology Specialist provides technical support to the 60 FSS/FSDE Education Center Commercial Network and Voluntary Education and Testing programs at Travis AFB. The primary objective is to deliver high-standard customer support, ensure seamless workflow, and provide minimum downtime for the Education Center's staff offices, classrooms, labs, and computer-based testing assets.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $32.50 - $35/hr.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• System Administration: Administer and maintain computer/testing lab servers and ensure all systems are running current versions of Microsoft Windows operating software.
• Infrastructure Management: Maintain the local area network, including routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi access points, and marquee/monitor display systems.
• Technical Support: Provide PC desktop and server support for FSDE computers, printers, and other critical peripherals.
• Data Integrity: Establish backup methodologies and safeguard critical data to ensure uninterrupted service and data recovery.
• Installation & Configuration: Implement new hardware and software systems, including the setup of new computers and the removal or assembly of furniture and IT equipment as needed.
• Maintenance: Perform daily inspections of all IT and audio-visual equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
• Planning & Reporting: Provide recommendations for future systems improvements, create equipment life cycle listings for tech refreshes, and submit Weekly Activity Reports (WAR).
• Inventory Control: Serve as the alternate equipment custodian, conducting annual inventories and accounting for all new equipment within 72 hours of receipt.

Skills And Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in hardware and software system administration, particularly with Microsoft products.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to provide analytical and advisory expertise for Communications-Computer Systems (C-CS) planning and implementation.
• Communication: Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Security Knowledge: Mandatory knowledge of and/or experience with computer and network security.

Education & Experience

• Experience: Must have a proven minimum of one year of current experience (defined as within the past five years).
• Certifications: Mandatory A+ and Security+ certifications.
• Desired Experience: Familiarity with Air Force Automated Education Management System (AFAEMS), Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) systems, and My Learning Career Development Course (CDC) Assessment Systems is preferred but not mandatory.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• There are no supervisory functions for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The work is performed on-site at the Education Center, 60 FSS/FSDE, Travis AFB, CA.
• The environment includes offices, classrooms, computer labs, and testing centers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The role may require the employee to remove, assemble, and hang furniture or other information technology equipment.

ROLE AND LOCATION SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

• Compliance: All tasks must be accomplished in accordance with DoD, Air Force, Air Mobility Command, and local base computer guidelines.
• Security Training: Must receive initial and recurring security education training from the sponsoring agency’s Security Manager.
• Emergency Response: In the event of a total system disablement, the employee must respond within four hours.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• Schedule: Part‑time hours, typically 0730–1230, Monday through Friday.
• Exclusions: No work is performed on federal holidays or outside the standard window of 0730–1630 without prior coordination.

• There are no travel required for this position.

Clearance/License Requirements

• Security Clearance: Must complete a National Agency Check (NAC) investigation to receive a Restricted Area Badge.
• Background: Must not have any misdemeanors or felony convictions.
• Domain Rights: Must maintain certifications required to sustain elevated network administrative privileges.
• Base Access: Must obtain and maintain necessary pass and identification items for base access and comply with all base traffic regulations.
