Job summary

The City of Winchester, VA, seeks an experienced IT professional to provide direct technical assistance to sworn and civilian Police Department personnel and to support, deploy, and maintain specialized Police Department technology.

You will collaborate with City IT to ensure Police technology complies with cybersecurity, network, and enterprise standards, and support PD vehicles' technology, CAD/RMS, mobile data computer systems, digital evidence, and related public safety technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Seven years of IT support experience with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with Windows/Microsoft 365, Active Directory, mobile devices, and network support.
• Public safety IT environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct technical assistance to sworn and civilian Police Department personnel.
• Provides technical support, coordination, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or administration for specialized Police Department technology.
• Assists with implementation, testing, deployment, and support of new Police Department technology.
• Supports technology installed in Police Department vehicles, including computers, cameras, scanners, printers, communications equipment, and associated peripherals.
• Works with City IT to ensure Police Department technology complies with cybersecurity, network, infrastructure, and enterprise standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides direct technical assistance to sworn and civilian Police Department personnel
• Provides technical support, coordination, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or administration, as assigned, for specialized Police Department technology
• Assists with implementation, testing, deployment, and support of new Police Department technology
• Supports technology installed in Police Department vehicles, including computers, cameras, scanners, printers, communications equipment, and associated peripherals
• Works collaboratively with City IT to ensure Police Department technology complies with City cybersecurity, network, infrastructure, and enterprise technology standards

Education and/or Experience:

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology, Information Technology, etc.
• Seven (7) years of IT support; 2 years supervision preferred

Experience should include:

• Desktop support, Microsoft Windows/365;
• Installation/troubleshooting, user accounts, mobile devices, network support,
• Technical customer support.

Preferred experience in:

• IT support in law enforcement, public safety, 24-hour environments.
• CAD, RMS, mobile data computers, body cameras, digital evidence, public safety systems.
• Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, mobile management, VPN, multi-factor auth.
• Vendor management, technology projects, industry certifications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver’s license required.
