Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

DMV's Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking a highly motivate and innovative individual to lead the Vehicle Registration (VR) Product Section. Under the general direction of the Enterprise Applications Branch Chief, the Information Technology (IT) Manager II will be a member of the ISD senior leadership team responsible for leading multi-disciplinary teams that provide high-level administrative oversight for critical projects. Furthermore, the incumbent ensures the Section activities adhere to the Departmental and State regulations, policies, and procedures.The incumbent should have experience in workforce and succession planning; expanding talent recruitment efforts; modernizing core business applications with current technology; and implementing new technology to meet the future needs. The incumbent is an inspirational leader responsible for developing and guiding project teams to become highly efficient and effective team members.

Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in project management, procurement, contract management, budget and reporting, human resources, change management principles, strategic planning, and customer relations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a large multidisciplinary organization.
  • Knowledge of or experience in Agile methodology for software development.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise process and policies for service delivery of major programs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to make critical and timely decisions on a variety of challenges in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state laws, rules, policies, and procedures with a demonstrated effectiveness in implementing initiatives and policies.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of multidisciplinary technical professional staff.
