Job Summary

Clove Dental is seeking a hands-on Local IT Specialist to own day-to-day IT, networking, and technical support across our growing network of dental offices.

This is a highly hands-on, in-person role. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable configuring a firewall, troubleshooting a workstation, running Ethernet cable, setting up equipment in a new office, and traveling to another Clove location to resolve an issue.

The position will be based primarily in Oxnard , with regular travel between Clove Dental offices throughout Southern California. As Clove continues to grow, this individual will play an important role in opening new locations, standardizing our technology infrastructure, and keeping our offices operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and Wi‑Fi networks.
  • Diagnose and resolve internet, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, IP addressing, VPN, and connectivity issues.
  • Install and terminate Ethernet/network cabling , including running and organizing cables throughout offices.
  • Maintain organized network closets, patch panels, switches, and related infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot ISP and network outages and coordinate with internet and technology vendors.
  • Help standardize network configurations and equipment across Clove Dental locations.
  • Maintain secure and reliable connectivity for clinical and administrative systems.
On-site IT Support
  • Provide hands‑on support for computers, monitors, printers, scanners, phones, tablets, and other office equipment.

  • Set up computers, user accounts, permissions, email, and other applications for new employees.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems quickly to minimize office downtime.
  • Support antivirus, endpoint security, operating‑system updates, patch management, backups, and related security systems.
  • Coordinate with third‑party vendors and elevate issues when appropriate.

  • Dental imaging systems and related hardware
  • Digital scanners and other clinical technology
  • VoIP/office phone systems
  • Google Workspace and other cloud‑based applications
  • Office networking and connectivity required by dental equipment

Prior dental IT experience is helpful but not required . The successful candidate must be technically capable and willing to quickly learn dental‑specific software, hardware, and workflows.

New Office Setup & Field Work
  • Travel between Clove Dental locations to provide on‑site IT support.
  • Assist with technology setup for new dental office openings and acquisitions .
  • Install and connect computers, phones, printers, access points, networking equipment, TVs, and other devices.
  • Run, terminate, label, and troubleshoot Ethernet/network cabling.
  • Mount or install basic technology equipment when needed.
  • Perform light handyman work related to office and technology installations , such as mounting equipment, organizing wiring, installing brackets, and making minor physical adjustments.
  • Coordinate with electricians, low‑voltage contractors, ISPs, equipment vendors, and other contractors when specialized work is required.
Documentation & IT Operations
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, equipment, passwords/credentials, vendors, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Track IT equipment and maintain an accurate inventory across locations.
  • Create repeatable IT setup standards and checklists for existing and new offices.
  • Identify recurring problems and implement permanent solutions rather than repeatedly applying temporary fixes.
  • Help Clove develop scalable IT infrastructure as the organization adds additional locations.
Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, Wi‑Fi, switches, routers, and firewalls .

  • Experience with dental or healthcare IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Open Dental or other dental practice‑management software.
  • Experience with VoIP systems.
  • Experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience with low‑voltage wiring, Ethernet cabling, patch panels, and network equipment installation.
  • Experience supporting new office openings, relocations, or acquisitions.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for a hands‑on operator, not someone who only manages IT remotely . You should be willing to go to an office, diagnose the problem, get under a desk or into a network closet when necessary, run a cable, replace equipment, and stay with the problem until it is solved.

The right person will help Clove Dental build a reliable, standardized technology infrastructure that can support a rapidly growing network of dental offices.
