Job description

At Veracity, we aim to be a different kind of insurance partner – one that is free from outside investors, venture capital, or the pressures of a corporate parent.

Ours is a culture of empowerment – one that believes in effort, results, and accountability. We believe that transparency fosters trust, trust foster growth, and that growth drives innovation. Our commitment to rigorous evaluation and relentless execution lead to rapid evolution.

We answer only to the small business owners we serve, and this independence allows us to stay focused on what matters most: helping their businesses thrive by providing expert guidance and best-in-class insurance policies.

We’re growing fast and want you to be a part of it!

Information Technology (IT) Manager

We’re seeking a hands‑on and technically sharp Information Technology (IT) Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Enterprise Technology Operations & Information Security, this role leads Veracity’s IT function – the people, devices, identity platform, and processes that let every employee do their job without technology getting in the way.

This is a working manager role with two connected mandates: running reliable day‑to‑day IT operations including helpdesk, device lifecycle, conference room technology, and onboarding and offboarding; and closing the gaps the team faces today – leading the move from a hybrid on‑premises Active Directory environment to a fully cloud Microsoft Entra environment, automating the employee account lifecycle between Rippling and Entra, and building the policies, disaster recovery plans, and vendor management foundations IT needs to scale. The end goal is an IT function that is reliable, documented, secure, and does not depend on any single person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hire, coach, schedule, and develop the IT team – setting clear priorities and performance expectations, building runbooks, cross‑training to eliminate single‑person coverage gaps, and running regular 1:1s and performance reviews
  • Mentor team members – identify learning opportunities, provide technical guidance, and support each person’s growth
IT Operations & Support
  • Lead daily helpdesk operations – intake, triage, prioritization, assignment, and resolution against defined response and resolution targets – and serve as the escalation point for complex or sensitive issues; keep the queue healthy with no aging tickets and no silent drops
  • Route system and platform issues to the Enterprise Systems team per the defined routing standard while owning the user’s experience through the handoff – and build and maintain a knowledge base and self‑service resources so repeat issues get solved once
  • Own the full device lifecycle – procurement, imaging, deployment, maintenance, refresh, and secure disposal – across laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, phones, headsets, printers, and peripherals; maintain an accurate, auditable hardware inventory with device standardization, spare stock levels, warranties, and refresh cycles
  • Manage conference room and meeting technology – displays, cameras, audio, and Teams room equipment – so meetings start on time without IT in the room; support on‑site network equipment and physical connectivity including switches, access points, cabling, and the wiring closet
  • Plan and lead the transition from the hybrid on‑premises Active Directory environment to a fully cloud Microsoft Entra environment – assessing dependencies, defining the roadmap and cutover plan, and retiring legacy infrastructure with minimal disruption
  • Guide the integration and automation between Rippling and Entra so employee accounts are provisioned, updated, and deprovisioned automatically from the HR system of record
  • Conduct Microsoft 365 investigations and discovery – running audits, reviewing user activity, searching Teams chats and email, recovering SharePoint and OneDrive items, and selecting the appropriate discovery tools for each request
Security, Monitoring & Resilience
  • Execute endpoint security standards including patching, encryption, antivirus, and compliance configuration – verify and report device compliance, remediate gaps, and elevate suspected incidents immediately per defined thresholds
  • Use centralized logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk to review system activity, troubleshoot issues, and identify and elevate potential security concerns
  • Define penetration testing scope in partnership with Information Security and prioritize and drive remediation of findings to closure
  • Establish, document, and regularly test disaster recovery plans
  • Support security awareness and phishing simulation programs at the user level
  • Plan and lead IT projects – defining scope, priorities, timelines, resources, and accountability and keeping stakeholders informed on progress and risks
  • Manage IT vendor relationships, contract renewals, software licensing, and billing – keeping license counts right‑sized, reconciling invoices, and tracking spend against budget
  • Develop, document, and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards and keep them current as the environment changes
Onboarding, Offboarding & Training
  • Deliver a ready‑to‑work setup on day one for every new hire and complete offboarding access removal and device recovery on schedule with documented verification – partnering with People Operations to uphold onboarding and offboarding standards
  • Develop and deliver organization‑wide IT training on company technology, software, and operating systems
  • Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
Required
  • 6+ years in IT operations, systems administration, or end‑user computing with at least 2–3 years leading a team or serving as an IT lead
  • Hands‑on administration of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra in a hybrid environment with direct experience planning or executing a move toward cloud‑only identity
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration including audit log review and eDiscovery across Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
  • Hands‑on depth with Windows device administration, imaging and deployment tooling, and endpoint management such as Intune
  • Experience with centralized logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk
  • Experience writing IT policies and procedures and building and testing disaster recovery plans
  • Track record managing IT vendors, contracts, licensing, and budgets
  • Experience planning and delivering IT projects with defined scope, timelines, and accountability
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals – wireless, VPN, and local connectivity troubleshooting
  • Strong service orientation and communication skills – able to explain technology clearly to non‑technical users and stay steady under pressure
Preferred
  • Experience integrating an HR system with Entra for automated account provisioning and deprovisioning – Rippling experience preferred
  • Experience scoping penetration tests and driving remediation or working closely with an Information Security team on SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks
  • Experience developing and delivering end‑user technology training
  • Experience supporting a multi‑site or hybrid workforce
  • Insurance, financial services, or other regulated‑industry background
  • Certifications: Microsoft MS-102, SC-300, or MD-102; CompTIA Network+ or Security+; ITIL Foundation; or Splunk Core Certified User
  • Health, dental, and vision plans
  • Amazing work‑life balance with 4 weeks of Paid Time Off
  • 10 Paid Company Holidays with 2 floating holidays
  • 401K Programs with employer match
  • Personal assistance programs for support in a healthy personal and work life
Why Veracity?
  • Engage in groundbreaking projects that are reshaping the insurance landscape
  • Collaborate with a group of dedicated, like‑minded professionals
  • Experience a culture that prioritizes growth and development
