Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is seeking an Information Technology Intern to join the San Jose State University campus team starting in January. The paid position offers learning across IT support, operations, and guest services, with hands-on experience and exposure to POS platforms.

Based in San Jose, the role supports on-site operations, with responsibilities spanning help desk ticketing, reporting, and collaboration with Compass Digital Labs and partners to implement IT

• Pay Rate: $18.45 per hour.

General Description

You will be working closely with the leaders in the hospitality group at San Jose State University, developing skills and competencies to understand what is needed to be successful in the world of IT Support within the hospitality industry. You will gain valuable experience in the following areas: operations, marketing, administration, guest services, problem resolution, planning and implementation of innovation and client relationship skills. This internship involves hands on experiences which will provide many opportunities for your personal success in a career of IT Support.

• Help install and configure different point of sale systems across the campus.
• Collaborate with business partners to setup transaction systems on workstation platforms
• Maintain communications with Compass Digital Labs and partners on pending IT issues
• Understand and utilize various point of sale platforms to provide designated solutions.
• Configure menu administration platforms for mobile app services.
• Help administrators and supervisors to setup necessary IT Utilities and devices to help meet their everyday needs.
• Create robust documentation of existing tech specs, troubleshooting approaches, and solutions, streamlining the troubleshooting process.
• Work with different digital and IT teams to help make catering and dining technological solutions seamless across campus and beyond!

This is a paid intern position; however, it is not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or benefits such as medical, dental, vision, etc.

Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease).
