Colorado PERA is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer with deep VMware and automation expertise. The role focuses on integrating, implementing, maintaining, testing, and monitoring system technology, including IaC via PowerShell and domain controllers administration.

It requires mentoring staff, handling Level 3 incidents, and leading disaster recovery efforts. The candidate will implement VMware performance management, capacity planning, and drive automation while collaborating with vendors

Qualifications

• Degree in technical field and four years’ experience in a technical role preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• SME across multiple key technologies with security implications.
• VMware certifications a plus – VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support VMware infrastructure management including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, and DRS.
• Implement and mentor on Infrastructure as Code and PowerShell-driven automation.
• Plan, upgrade, and document domain controllers; ensure CIS hardening and disaster recovery readiness.
• Evaluate vendor SOWs, manage vendor relationships, and provide technical leadership on projects.
• Provide proactive incident resolution and root-cause analyses for complex issues.
• Drive automation to reduce manual ops and improve service delivery.

Summary of Job ResponsibilitiesThis position is an SME in VMware and is responsible for integrating, implementing, maintaining, testing, and monitoring system technology across the organization. Leads and supports the implementation of Infrastructure as Code using deep PowerShell scripting expertise and understanding of IaC. Manages and maintains domain controller administration, including upgrades, replication relationships, and disaster recovery. Mentors, coaches, and guides administrators to address complex technical matters that require proactive strategies and in-depth evaluation. Leads technical projects and delivers short- and long-term technological solutions.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEmployees are held accountable for all duties of the job.
