About You

As TASB’s Information Systems Security Engineer, you will collaborate with IT departments to design, implement, and maintain security infrastructure. You will identify threats and vulnerabilities, work with teams to remediate issues, advise on best practices, and respond to security incidents. This is an Austin-based hybrid role, requiring up to two days per week at our North Austin headquarters.

A Typical Day

  1. Monitor security systems, respond to alerts, and contain/remediate incidents.
  2. Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts.
  3. Work with development teams to identify security risks early and advise on mitigation.
  4. Ensure security controls are effectively implemented in line with governance frameworks.
  5. Engage in security incident response and investigations.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and recommend proactive measures.
  • Design, implement, and maintain security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, data loss prevention, encryption, and cloud security best practices.
  • Collaborate with an outsourced SOC to monitor and prioritize security alerts.
  • Investigate security alerts to determine incident scope and nature.
  • Assist in incident response, breach investigations, and reporting.
  • Monitor network traffic, configure security appliances, and maintain protocols.
  • Conduct security assessments and risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Prioritize vulnerabilities and work with IT teams on remediation.
  • Administer security tools including SIEM, endpoint security, and awareness platforms.
  • Design and evaluate security architecture for systems and embedded technologies.
  • Enhance user access controls, authentication, and authorization systems.
  • Recommend improvements for IT baselines and security controls across environments.
  • Work with software development teams to embed security into SDLC.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures for compliance.
  • Promote security awareness among employees through training.
  • Perform security audits to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Contribute to implementation plans and operational procedures related to security.

Skills for Success

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT security, with a track record of designing and implementing security solutions.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA preferred.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and vulnerability scanning.
  • Experience with application security initiatives and SAST/DAST tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in network security, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of security standards like ISO 27001, NIST, CIS.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and conveying complex issues.
  • Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff in a hybrid environment.
