Qualifications

  • Project management experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of online resource licensing and copyright guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide access to literature across platforms using established workflows.
  • Maintain metadata in Presto ILS and internal knowledge databases.
  • Support literature procurement, access, and organization to meet bibliography requirements.
  • Complete citations using bibliographic tools as needed.
  • Assist with online resource renewals, management, and access.
  • Troubleshoot online journal/resource access.
  • Acquire and process information resources per business needs.
  • Monitor and report journal/resource usage data.
  • Manage long-term storage of company files via Iron Mountain.
  • Educate employees on library services and resources.

Job Description Summary

The Information Specialist supports multiple departments across Par Health through reference services, literature searches, execution of search strategies, formal and informal training to various departments on services provided, resource management, and potentially subscription negotiations with procurement and suppliers. The successful candidate will have knowledge of library technical services and demonstrate the ability to take initiative and work collaboratively.

Job Description

The Information Specialist is an individual contributor role that supports Par Health’s Generics (Gx) and Sterile Injectable (SI) businesses with potential to support all sites and all departments while primarily supporting R&D, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, and Quality.

  • Company Database Management (i.e., Ovid, Accuris, USP, EP, BP, Scifinder, etc)
  • Company Iron Mountain Administrator
  • Regulatory Supports
  • Regulatory Annual Reports and Literature Requests
  • Pharmacovigilance Supports
  • Pharmacovigilance (Ovid Alerts, Full Text Articles)
  • R&D Supports
  • R&D (Document Storage and Retrieval, Literature Searches)
  • Quality Supports
  • FDA, Health Canada, and DEA audits as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in one of the natural or physical sciences
  • Master's degree in library and information science preferred
  • Prior work in a library or as a research or editorial assistant or GMP areas
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Knowledge Possess an understanding of online resource licensing methods and copyright guidelines.
  • Experience updating records in an Integrated Library System (ILS), cataloging, and ILL software such as InMagic/Presto.
  • Experience with the administrative or staff view of an ILS.
  • Familiarity with searching citation databases such as PubMed, OVID, Scifinder, USP, EP, SmartChem, Cortellis, Techstreet.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, and dedication to quality.
  • Customer focused and self-directed with strong multi-tasking abilities and proven abilities to work well as a part of a team and independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (basic editing / updating / adding and deleting lines).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint is a plus.
  • Ability to periodically perform lifting for collection shelving and shifting.
  • Proficiency in current information / library technologies.
Essential Functions
  • Provide access to literature for employees across all platforms and functions, using established workflows.
  • Ensure that metadata records in Presto ILS, and additional internal knowledge management databases are entered correctly and maintained properly.
  • Support the users with literature procurement, access, and organization to meet bibliography and publication requirements.
  • Complete citations for publications as needed, utilizing provided bibliographic tools.
  • Assist with online resource renewals, management, and access.
  • Troubleshoot online journal and resource access as needed.
  • Acquire and process information resources based upon business needs.
  • Maintain and monitor data relating to journal and online resource usage; prepare reports as needed.
  • Facilitate acquisition of lab notebooks / logbooks and their copying / archiving for multiple sites.
  • Edit and distribute electronic Table of Contents and maintain distribution lists.
  • Educate employees on the library’s services and resources.
  • Actively contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of our knowledge infrastructure.
  • Manage long‑term storage of company files through Iron Mountain
  • Perform other duties as identified and assigned.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 20-30 pounds and walk across plants and warehouses as needed.
