Primary Responsibilities

The ISSE shall perform, or review, technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities, non-compliance with IA standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. Responsibilities include:

• Validating and verifying system security requirements and designing security architectures.
• Designing, developing, implementing, and integrating IA and security systems for networking, computing, and enclave environments, including those with multiple enclaves and differing data classifications.
• Building IA into operational systems.
• Assisting architects and developers in implementing security functionalities aligned with agency policies.
• Supporting security architecture development.
• Enforcing trusted relations among external systems and architecture.
• Assessing and mitigating security threats throughout the program lifecycle.
• Contributing to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, certification, and awareness activities.
• Reviewing C&A documentation for completeness and compliance.

Clearance Required

Minimum TS/SCI with the ability to obtain Polygraph.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field with 15+ years of experience as an ISSE or Network Engineer.
• CASP or CISSP certification is mandatory.
• CISSP-ISSEP DoD 8570 Level III certification is mandatory.
• Strong writing skills and experience in security requirements development and documentation.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800 Series, CNSSI 1253, and DoD 8500.
• Experience with network protocols, communication systems, and architectures.
