Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno Office of Information Technology is currently searching for a strategical, security focused Information Security Analyst.The primary function of this position is to monitor network traffic, activity logs and systems alerts for trends, anomalies, intrusion attempts and potential breaches. They would also identify, collect, analyze, interpret, and assist in the development of security metrics and reports as well as ongoing vulnerability assessments.

In the event of an incident the Information Security Analyst would serve as the primary coordinator for a response. This would include performing network and system forensic investigation, malware analysis, documentation, and final reporting. This position would also oversee the management of the systems that manage logging, analysis, and incident response. This includes the SIEM, syslog servers, net flow aggregation systems, vulnerability assessment, and other analytic platforms. In addition, this position would mentor student employees or other IT employees in proper security procedures and practices.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institutionand (2) years of related work experience; OR

Master’s Degree from an accredited institution and one (1) year related work experience.

Related Experience:

Experience in cyber security incident management, malware analysis, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, computer and network forensics. Software design or development.

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees

Department Information

Office of Information Technology department provides computing, software, and communications support services to students, faculty, and staff throughout the University.

Information Security is responsible for all aspects of digital information and system protection for the Universitycampus and affiliated entities. This unit engages with the different administrative areas and academic departmentsto assist in managing security procedures and policies. Manages the incident response, business continuity, vulnerability monitoring and other information security related processes. In addition, it oversees the centralized identitymanagement system on campus.
