Job summary

Great Plains Tribal Health seeks an Informatics Specialist to support the Informatics and Analytics Department's data infrastructure and systems needs. The role focuses on improving and maintaining technology assets for tribal data access, surveillance, epidemiology, and case management.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an associate’s degree and one year of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or GED and three years of relevant experience.
  • Experience applying a body of standardized rules, procedures, or operations to standard clerical assignments.
  • Employment is contingent upon criminal background checks and health requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall support for informatics activities as a member of the Informatics and Analytics Department.
  • Assists planning and implementing informatics projects with information organization, documentation, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintains and monitors project deliverables aligned with strategic plans and work plans.
  • Manages user accounts and administrative roles in information systems as assigned.
  • Assists with data management in Microsoft Azure, including data ingestion, cleaning, ETL pipelines, analysis, visualization, reporting, and exchange.
  • Supports system configuration, testing, validation, and troubleshooting to meet deliverables.
  • Troubleshoots systems and processes, documents resolutions, and maintains support materials.
  • Collaborates with GPTEC, Informatics, IT, consultants, and tribes to ensure security standards and best practices; reviews logs and usage reports.
  • Responds to technical assistance and training requests, communicates with partners, and maintains documentation.
  • Participates in business analysis, planning, and user design sessions; supports communications between internal and external partners.

Job Summary

Essential Functions
  • Provides overall support for informatics activities as a member of the Great Plains Tribal Health Informatics and Analytics Department.
  • Assists planning and implementing informatics projects by participating in meetings, organizing information, keeping documentation, tracking progress, and making reports.
  • Maintains and monitors progress on project deliverables consistent with, and for, organizational strategic plans and departmental work plans.
  • Maintains user accounts and other administrative roles in information systems, as assigned.
  • Assists with data management in Microsoft Azure, such as performing tasks that support data ingestion, cleaning, ETL pipelines, analysis, visualization, reporting, and exchange.
  • Supports data systems configuration, testing & validation, and troubleshooting to meet project deliverables.
  • Troubleshoots systems and process operations, helps identify and implement solutions for resolution, and maintains supportive documentation through resolution.
  • Collaborates with teams including GPTEC, Informatics, IT, consultants, and tribes to ensure security standards and best practices are followed and monitored; reviews system activity logs and system usage reports; makes reports.
  • Responds to technical assistance and training requests, assists in communication with partners, and maintains documentation.
  • Participates in business analysis, planning, and user design sessions and assists with communications between internal and external partners.
  • Participates in meetings, training, and other partnership opportunities within the informatics domain.
  • Represents all areas of subject matter authority with skill, tact, honesty and professionalism.
Education/Experience
  • Completion of a formal training program or an associate’s degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Individuals must have applicable education or experience applying a body of standardized rules, procedures, or operations to perform the full range of standard clerical assignments and resolve recurring problems or to operate and adjust varied equipment for purposes such as performing numerous standardized tests or operations.
