Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida seeks an Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship (ID/ASP) Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to provide pharmacotherapy recommendations, evaluate drug therapy and optimize antimicrobial use across the hospital. The role supports guideline-directed therapies, cost-effective care, and interdisciplinary patient rounds.

The position requires Florida pharmacist licensure, a PharmD (ACPE-accredited preferred), BLS, and at least two years of clinical hospital

Qualifications

• Pharmacist Florida license in good standing
• BLS certification maintained throughout employment
• Two years of clinical hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent
• Knowledge of infectious disease pharmacotherapy, pharmacology and PK/PD
• Ability to assess patient care conditions and medication response
• Strong communication with healthcare team and patients

Responsibilities

• Achieves cost savings targets and contributes to formulary management.
• Participates in clinical pharmacy program and acts as a consultant in areas of expertise.
• Attends daily patient care rounds and hospital committees as assigned.
• Educates staff and residents on antimicrobial therapy and pharmacotherapy.
• Manages investigational drug study activity as needed in area of practice.
• Ensures documentation and data collection for antimicrobial stewardship metrics.
