Job summary

Army Medical Careers Northeast seeks an Infectious Disease Officer to advance medical care for Soldiers and communities.

You will study infectious diseases, support diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, including outbreaks and biological threats, through collaboration with medical teams. Deployment and humanitarian missions may be part of duties, with the option to serve Regular Army or Army Reserve.

Qualifications

• Must have MD or DO degree from an accredited US medical school.
• Must hold a current, valid, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States/DC/US territories.
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Must have completed at least one year of approved GME internship.
• Must be able to meet criteria to be appointed as a commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve.
• Must be a permanent resident of the United States.

Responsibilities

• Study the causes, effects, and patterns of infectious diseases, including biological threats.
• Collaborate with other medical professionals to diagnose, treat, and control transmission of infectious diseases in military and communities.
• Participate in humanitarian missions to address disease spread and prevention.

As an infectious disease officer in Army Medicine, you'll be responsible for studying the causes, effects, and patterns of infectious diseases, including biological warfare threats. Through research, you could work with other medical professionals to confirm, diagnose, treat and control the transmission of infectious diseases within the military and communities you support.

Eligibility Requirements

• Possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
• Must have a current, valid, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory
• Must be eligible for board certification
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
• Must be able to meet the criteria to be appointed as a commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve
• Must be a permanent resident of the United States
