Job summary

The U.S. Army Medical Corps seeks an Infectious Disease Officer to study causes, effects, and patterns of infectious diseases, including biological threats, and to work with other medical professionals to diagnose, treat, and control transmission within the military and communities.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited U.S. medical school or osteopathy program.
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the ECFMG.
• Current, valid, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, DC, or U.S. territory.
• Must be eligible for board certification.
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved GME internship.
• Must be able to meet criteria to be appointed as a commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve.
• Must be a permanent resident of the United States.

As an infectious disease officer in Army Medicine, you'll be responsible for studying the causes, effects, and patterns of infectious diseases, including biological warfare threats. Through research, you could work with other medical professionals to confirm, diagnose, treat and control the transmission of infectious diseases within the military and communities you support.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
• Must have a current, valid, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory
• Must be eligible for board certification
• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
• Must be able to meet the criteria to be appointed as a commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve
• Must be a permanent resident of the United States
