POSITION TITLE:Infection Preventionist/Staff Development RN
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
1.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Position requires prolonged standing, sitting, walking, frequent bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, lifting, and stretching; lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
2.Education:Graduate of a state approved school of nursing combined with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current knowledge of State and Federal regulations with proven ability to apply to day-to-day nursing programs. Superior knowledge of quality assurance, quality improvement and clinical components in Post-Acute Care and Skilled Nursing Practices. Strong computer skills required including a functional competency with Point Click Care.
3.Experience:Previous experience in a similar role and healthcare setting. Requires strong leadership abilities.
4.Certificate/Licenses:Must be a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania and Certified Infection Preventionist.

INFECTION PREVENTIONIST JOB DESCRIPTION
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct our infection prevention and control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in nursing care facilities.
- Ensure that facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection prevention and control.
- Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection prevention and control processes and techniques in accordance with current best practices.
- Review, modify and interpret infection prevention and control policies and procedures as necessary.
- Monitor infection prevention and control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing our standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids.
- Represent the Infection Prevention and Control Committee at the facility QAPI Committee.
- Make rounds to nursing units for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of standard and transmission-based precautions/practices.
- Prepare monthly summaries of all resident/personnel infections, corrective action taken, and the results of the corrective action. Submit copies to the Administrator and Director Of Nursing Services.
- Provide the Director Of Nursing Services with a report of pertinent findings and recommendations pertaining to communicable diseases, healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic stewardship.
- Maintain a written record of all residents and employees with community or healthcare associated infections.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings.
- Provide employee orientation, training, and counseling as outlined in our infection prevention and control employee health programs.
- Maintain resident/employee exposure reports in a confidential manner.
- Other duties as assigned by NHA/DON.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Plan, develop, direct and coordinate education curriculum for NS dept. addressing the needs of Aides, LPNs, and RNs for recertification and competency.
- Establish needs analysis to determine pertinent nursing programs based on staff and admin requirements.
- Ensure yearly education of all staff (i.e. CPR, Abuse training, Fire safety).
- Maintain survey ready binder for facility.
- Plan, direct, organize, implement and evaluate ALL audits including weekly clipboard audits in accordance with rules and regulations governing the facility.
- Meet with NHA and DON weekly keeping them aware of training and audit trends.
- Agree to abide by all HIPPA rules and regulations.
- Facilitate monthly QAPI meetings/minutes.
- Comply with completion of all QAPI processes.
- Develops and oversees Plans of Correction for facility.
- Administratively checks the work performance and documentation of nursing staff.
- Review and lock all I & A.
- Communicate effectively with all department managers to provide education on a yearly basis.
- Audit facility as NHA and DON request.
- Complete other duties as NHA requests.
